TERRA & COSMOS

"TERRA & COSMOS" is a collaboration of the serenity of the Earth and the sublime of the Cosmos,

infused with the intention to revitalize self-reflection and humility.

The series pays homage to Voyager 1, the golden record and its famous "Pale Blue Dot",

a photograph taken on February 14, 1990, as it left the solar system.

Earth represented as a tiny lonely dot in the vastness of the cosmos emphasizes the fragility and uniqueness of our home planet,

referred by NASA as humanity's first family portrait.

It served as a reminder to reflect upon who we are and where we are in the universe.

May this series do so as well.

We have to be outside of where we are to see ourselves properly.

Take a breath and truly observe,

both up close and from afar,

the land we stand on, the people around us,

the distant mountains and seas,

the clouds and stars above them,

the sun that illuminates our day

and the moon that reflects that light for our night.

The installation of the colourful florescent moons accompanied by the UV lights immerses us into an emulated moon gazing experience,

while the golden reflective moons remind us of the golden record onboard the Voyager 1.

Within the pages of the book are photographs taken over the years of traveling to different parts of the world,

paying respect to the gracious marble we call home.
